The first GRANDS meeting will be held on Thursday, November 14, at 6:00 in the board room in the Johnson County School System Central Office. Frontier Health will be here to discuss how to help children deal with being raised by their grandparents and not their parents. There will be time set aside for questions and group discussions about what matters most to you.

A session about Anxiety and Depression in Children and Teens, will be held on Thursday, October 24, at 6:00 in the board room at the Johnson County School System Central Office. Counselors from Frontier Health will going over the signs and symptoms of anxiety and depression, along with what you can do to help your child. There will be time for questions from the audience. The Johnson County Schools Book Bus is now out and about in your community! Kids are loving access to new books to read and enjoy over the Summer break, and the new Book Bus is a huge hit with everyone!

Johnson County High School has completed it's 96th Commencement Exercise, and 129 Seniors have walked across the stage and entered the next chapter in their lives! If you weren't able to attend in person and wish to check out the ceremony, you can view it on the Johnson County Schools Official YouTube Channel located at the link below.
Laurel Elementary School held a breakfast celebration this morning to honor community veterans. The Johnson County Honor Guard was on site and in addition to their duties of present the Colors for the ceremony, they taught a wonder and informative class on the History of the American Flag! Students were eager to learn and answer many of the questions during the session.

Parent involvement is crucial to academic success no matter how old your child is. The Skyward Family Access Parent Portal is a tool for parents to stay informed and engaged in their child's education. The Parent Portal gives parents and guardians access to their child's attendance, grades, and missing assignments. Weekly progress reports are available as well.
This newly passed law provides revisions and updates regrading school attendance, truancy, and discipline.
